Sunisa Lee has won the Olympic gold medal in the marquee individual competition of women's artistic gymnastics. The 18-year-old American finished ahead of Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, who took silver, and Angelina Melnikova of the Russian Olympic Committee, who won bronze.

Lee's victory marks the first time an American woman has won the all-around gold medal since Carly Patterson in 2004. It is also the first time an Asian-American woman has won the all-around gold medal in any sport.

Team USA finished second in the team competition, behind the Russian Olympic Committee. Great Britain won the bronze medal.
