Edward Charles James Gardner DFM, known professionally as Jimmy Gardner, was an English actor who passed away on 3 May 2010 at the age of 85. He was best known for his roles as Ernie Prang, the driver of the Knight Bus in the Harry Potter series, and as Robert Rusk in Alfred Hitchcock's "Frenzy" (1972).

Born on 24 August 1924 in Newmarket, Suffolk, England, Gardner served in the Royal Air Force during World War II, where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM). After the war, he pursued a career in acting, making his debut in the 1950 film "The Blue Lamp." He went on to appear in numerous films and television shows, including "The Lavender Hill Mob" (1951), "The Great Escape" (1963), and "The Professionals" (1977-1983).

Gardner's distinctive appearance and versatile acting skills made him a memorable character actor. He will be remembered for his contributions to the world of entertainment and his service to his country.
